Sunday, July 21st OCCUPY ARINGTON General Assembly is being CANCELLED

The next OA General Assembly will be held in August - Sunday, 4th of Aug at 6:30 pm - 27 Maple St, Arlington, MA

OCCUPY ARINGTON will be joining 350 MA in Harvard Sq, Cambridge on Sunday July 21st in lieu of holding its G.A.

5 pm meet at Not Your Average Joe's in Arlington Center (plenty of free parking). All of OA is invited to toast one of our friends.

6 pm meet in front of NYA Joe's and travel (in groups) to Cambridge for 350 event.

Occupy Arlington Summer Activities

Tuesday, July 9th, there will be hearings on the Drone Regulation Resolution and Privacy Act bills, both sponsored by the ACLU. These will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Hearing Rooms A1 and A2. State House - 24 Beacon St - Rms A1 & A2 - Park St T - Boston
Please try to attend if your schedule permits. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 10:00 am Rally; 11:00 am Hearing - Referendum on Budget for All

We are trying to pack the hearing room to show support. If it's at all possible, please try to be there.

Thursday, July 11th at 7:30, Occupy Arlington (O.A.) will be co-sponsoring a free screening of the 2011 film "Tipping Point: the age of the oil sand" with First Parish Arlington, in their meeting space at 630 Mass Ave.

Friday, July 12, 5 pm, meet to tend the O.A. Planter, located in median at Rte 3 junction & Rte 60/Mystic/Chestnut intersection. Bring a hardy plant or a trowel, and a jug of water. Mulch provided.

Wed., July 17th, between 4 & 6 pm., members of O.A. will be at the weekly Arlington Farmers' Market in the Center's parking lot. Stop by and share your thoughts with shoppers. Contact da@occupyarlingtonma.org for details.

The next O.A. General Assembly meeting will be held at 6:30 pm on Sunday, July 21st, at the Arlington Senior Center. We are currently active in raising awareness on issues of climate change, sequestration, privacy, and money in politics. We will report on the hearings at the MA Sate House this week, supporting restrictions on the use of drones in the State, surveillance, and the [Federal] Budget for All Resolution. 7pm Thursday, July 11 Tipping Point: The End of Oil

The award-winning documentary "Tipping Point: The End of Oil" will be shown in the vestry of First Parish Arlington, 630 Mass. Ave. at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 11. This documentary vividly depicts the tar sands fields in Alberta Canada and the impact that mining there has had. Doctors, environmentalists, indigenous people, oil corporation spokespersons, politicians, and scientists express diverse perspectives on this complex issue. A discussion will follow the film, which is co-sponsored by First Parish and Occupy Arlington. The event is free and open to the public.

Summer Climate Actions

At our May 2 General Assembly, we discussed two mass actions coming up in our state to take on the fossil fuel industry:
Shut Down Brayton Point, July 27 and 28th – and the Historic March from Brayton Point to Barnstable, August 28 – September 2.
I’ve put information below – and I’ve added the Statewide People’s Action Assembly on June 30th.
