Sunday, March 3, General Assembly, 27 Maple Street, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Our next GENERAL ASSEMBLY will be this Sunday, March 3 at the Senior Center, 27 Maple Street (lower level), 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

The CLIMATE ACTION WORKING GROUP will be meeting just prior to the General Assembly, at 5:00 pm, also at the Senior Center. Hear about the February 17th Forward on Climate rally in DC, where more than 40,000 people gathered. Help plan our next steps. All welcome!

General Assembly Notes 3 February 2013

Summary

Highlight's of tonight's GA:

  • The Citizens United group will work towards having more cities pass local resolutions and warrant articles against Citizen's United (corporations are not people, and government has the power to regulate political spending). This work will be done in conjunction with Common Cause and Move to Amend.
  • We decide to endorse a letter by a Utah group called Peaceful Uprising.
  • We decide to explore the possibility of having a fossil fuel divestment campaign in Arlington. There will likely be some work done in conjunction with 350.org
  • We decide to support 350.org's Feb 17th rally in Washington DC. This support will come in the form of (a) participation in the rally, and (b) providing some financial support to people who want to attend, but lack the means to do so.
  • We decide to endorse Veterans for Peace St. Patrick's Peace Parade.

18 people attended: Maggie S, Barbara B, Gina S, David Lan, Dick T, Mike M, Lynnette C, Steve R, Allan S, Joan B, Dana B, Alan, Chris, Vern, Barbara M, Susan L, Ken, Ann

Mike facilitated. Barbara took stack. Steve tried to type softly in the background.

Next GA: Sunday Feb 3rd, 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Our next General Assembly is this Sunday evening, February 3, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, at the Senior Center, 27 Maple Street in Arlington Center. We're looking forward to being together there again!
